BackCountry Highlands Ranch Homes for Sale

Searching for BackCountry Highlands Ranch homes for sale, or planning to sell in BackCountry? Kaylie Curtis helps buyers and sellers in this gated community on the edge of the Backcountry Wilderness Area.

About BackCountry

BackCountry is a gated, 1,100-acre master-planned community that Shea Homes opened in 2007 in southern Highlands Ranch. It borders the 8,200-acre Backcountry Wilderness Area, a conservation property owned by the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) that is managed mainly as wildlife habitat.

The community’s hub is the Sundial House, a private clubhouse built in 2009 on a ridge with views from downtown Denver to Longs Peak and Pikes Peak. Residents share its resort-style pool, fitness and movement studios, Pikes Pub and lounge, and an outdoor amphitheater, along with about 10.5 miles of interior trails and the South Rim Trails, about 9 miles of trail on 467 acres of the wilderness area.

Living in BackCountry

BackCountry is built for people who like to be outside. Residents walk or bike the neighborhood trails to ponds and parks, hike the South Rim Trails, and gather at the Sundial House for the pool, fitness classes, concerts at the amphitheater and community events.

Inside the gate, the Backcountry Association maintains nearly 550 acres of common areas and about 26 miles of private roads, and the trail system connects six neighborhood parks and several ponds.

As part of Highlands Ranch, residents also have access to HRCA amenities, including its recreation centers and programs, while the gate adds a second tier of privacy and private facilities.
