About Green Mountain
Green Mountain is a mesa on Lakewood’s west side, and its 6,854-foot summit sits inside William Frederick Hayden Park on Green Mountain. With more than 2,400 acres of open space, it is Lakewood’s second-largest park, and most of the land was donated by or purchased from the Hayden family beginning in 1972.
Much of the housing on the mountain’s slopes dates from the 1960s onward. In Green Mountain Estates, on the eastern flank, the 1962 Denver Parade of Homes featured 13 houses on a single street, South Cole Drive, and many homes in the area were designed to take in views toward Denver.
